Do you have a cleantech solution that just needs the final push to get to the markets?
Get involved in Veolia’s major environmental challenges in their three areas of activity - water, waste and energy, and that way extend access to resources and preserve and renew available resources.
Alongside the calls for innovation, an open approach, known as Open Channel, allows you to submit your solution anytime to be assessed by Veolia experts.
The main stages in the Open Channel approach
The process starts by sending your solution via the online application form.
You are free to choose the information and documents you wish to upload. Only information already in the public domain should be provided; at this stage, there is no confidentiality agreement.
Applications are assessed in 2 stages which focus on technical criteria and market opportunities:
- a rapid assessment to establish whether the solution falls within one of Veolia's development areas.
- followed by a more detailed assessment, if the solution meets the needs of Veolia, it may lead to an expression of interest.
The TRL scale (Technology Readiness Level) is used to evaluate the technological maturity of the proposed solutions. If necessary direct discussions will take place with our experts. These discussions may be covered by a confidentiality agreement.
The two stages are completed approximately within two months. However, it is directly related to the quality of the information provided, the availability of relevant experts and the opportunities for holding discussions with the company.
Subjects of interest for Veolia Group
Oil & Gas: Treatment/Recycling of produced waters and effluents, management of sludge
Mining: Desalination process for harsh water for reuse- Recovery from effluents and mine tails and ponds
Food & Beverage: Biomass and agro waste to energy, Closing water and energy loops solutions (water reuse, energy conversion)
Dismantling: Robotics & systems for facility dismantling, depollution of water-table and soils
Circular Economy: Resource recovery from wastewater, sludge to energy, Robotics and sensors for waste sorting, new materials from recycling
New Urban Services: Sensors for urban networks smart management (water, wastewater, cooling and heating); Local water treatment & reuse, local energy production and cogeneration
Cutting-edge solutions for complex issues: High-efficiency desalination, water & waste water treatment for stringent specifications
Relevant proposal should
Relevant proposal should range from TRL 3 to TRL 9.
More detailed explanation of Technological Readiness Levels can be found here.
As a general rule, more mature is our solution, more likely Veolia may adopt it.
What we are not interested in
- Solutions that are not in Veolia's business scopes
- Solutions that are not supported by accurate and robust data or evidences
- Solutions that do not bring novelty or improvement compare to competitors
Possible forms of collaboration
Depending on the maturity of the solutions, several forms of collaboration may be considered, including:
- Incorporating the solution in a tender
- A specific co-development agreement to meet Veolia’s industrial needs
- Testing the solution in a pilot or on an industrial scale, etc.
The ultimate goal is to establish a win-win collaboration.
